Manufacturing Engineering Technology (MET)

The Certificate Program in Manufacturing Engineering Technology (MET) is designed as a machining based program that provides a broad understanding of manufacturing processes, automation methods, and environments. It combines classroom instruction with real world practical experience operating and programming manual and computerized lathes and mills.

The Manufacturing Engineering Technology program is ideal for students who enjoy hands-on training. The course incorporates the practice of manufacturing from planning and layout through the operation and control phases. Extensive computer applications are part of the program including computer-aided drawing/modeling and computer-aided manufacturing. It prepares students for careers as machine operators or programmers. They will graduate with the ability to work individually as well as part of a team.

Job Outlook

Students successfully completing the program will be well prepared for entry level employment in a wide variety of skilled machining, Computer Numerical Control (CNC), Auto CAD, Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM), Electrical and Electronics based occupations currently in demand. Employment referrals to manufacturing companies throughout the region are provided to students.

The program is 900 hours and meets Monday – Thursday from 6 – 10 p.m.

Articulation Agreements

Apollo has articulation agreements which link the classes taken at Apollo with courses offered at State supported two-year colleges. The intent of the articulation plan is to recognize student achievement in career programs by providing advanced placement at the college level. The advanced credit earned reduces the number of credit hours needed for a degree. Students will not need to re-take classes already completed.
