Public Safety

*Charter and Accreditation #102

Chances are good that the firefighter, emergency medical technician or emergency medical responder responding to an emergency in your neighborhood is a graduate of Apollo Career Center’s Adult Public Safety program.

Our progressive training program serves more than 70 fire departments in 14 counties as well as business and industry; providing the lifesaving skills needed to keep themselves and our communities safe.

Home to the region’s only live burn facility and the state’s only extrication training vehicle, Apollo continues to provide the safest, most convenient and cost-effective way to deliver hands-on training. A lot of what the fire service does is physical in nature and Apollo wants to make sure the training is as realistic as possible.

Due to the serious nature of the work firefighters and EMTs are faced with, having exposure to real world scenarios and realistic working conditions in a safe and controlled environment during their training helps prepare them for the challenges that will be presented with when they enter the workforce as an EMT, EMR or firefighter.

Public Safety Testimonials

I had taken the EMT course through another school and struggled on the National Registry exam.  A friend recommended that I contact Apollo to see if they could help me.  They offered an EMT Test Prep class.  The class was very helpful and I understood the material so much better after I took the class.  I have recommended several friends to take this class that haven’t been successful in passing the National Registry exam.  I will definitely recommend anyone needing prepped for the test.

Thank you for sharing your wisdom and knowledge, and for making me believe in myself again. I’m going to do my best to become the best Paramedic Lima?s ever seen. I’ll make you proud!

Thank you for believing in all of us, for being so positive, and for always having a smile on. You always had time to say, “You can do it!” That truly helped us.

I want to thank you and all your staff who taught the Level 1 Firefighter Transition course at our department.  The instructors all showed great knowledge with their high level of experience.  The class was informative and all of your instructors explained the tasks at hand very well and in detail.

I’ve been a Volunteer Firefighter for 34 years and I must say that this was probably the best training decision I’ve ever made.  Making time to train is a must!  I’ve experienced a lot in my 34 years, not saying I know it all, but you can never train enough.

The fire behavior class was probably the training that intrigued me the most.  It’s important to read the smoke, see what the structural integrity is, and know where the fire has gone or is going before making the decision to put firefighters into harm’s way.  This is a must to do our job as safe as possible.  There are no routine calls; every call has to be treated with awareness and knowledge learned through training and experience.

I want to pass on my appreciation for all of you and your team’s time away from their families because of the Saturday/Sunday class schedule.  This is also my time for family, so I know what making that commitment means.  Please pass on my appreciation.  You’ve got a great team of instructors!

–Thank You & Stay Safe
